Grama panchayat

With the aim of making Karulai a drug-free Panchayat, the ‘Thufan 2.0’ project, jointly implemented by the Local Self Government Department, Police Department, and Excise Department, was launched in a grand manner at Karulai Grama Panchayat. The inauguration ceremony, held at the Grama Panchayat Conference Hall, witnessed enthusiastic participation from elected representatives, public workers, Haritha Karma Sena members, and local residents.

After watching the state-level inauguration ceremony online, the official Panchayat-level proceedings commenced in the presence of the Panchayat President, Secretary, and other elected representatives. The programme began with the hoisting of the Thufan flag, followed by an anti-drug pledge, encouraging everyone to actively participate in the fight against substance abuse. As part of the project, selected elected representatives were also presented with ‘Thufan Warrior’ badges.

SI Mr. Dineshan of Pookkottumpadam Police Station attended the programme as a special guest. He emphasized that the collective efforts of people from every section of society are essential to building a better future free from drugs.

The active participation of Kudumbashree members, Haritha Karma Sena workers, volunteers, and public representatives from various political and social spheres made the programme particularly noteworthy.

The inaugural ceremony concluded successfully, marking the beginning of a strong people’s movement against drug abuse and reaffirming Karulai Grama Panchayat’s commitment towards creating a safe and drug-free community.
